Aclamada historieta adapatada por Frank Darabont

La cadena de cable AMC esta cerca de cerrar un trato con Frank Darabont para escribir y dirigir una serie adaptando la novela grafica The Walking Dead, creada por Robert Kirkman.

Gale Anne Hurd de Valhalla Motion Pictures y David Alpert de Circle of Confusion serán productores ejecutivos.

La historia trata sobre un grupo de sobrevivientes de un apocalipsis zombie, liderados por un oficial de policía, Rick Grimes, en búsqueda de un lugar seguro donde vivir.

Joel Stillerman, Vice Presidente de programación de AMC, dijo que el proyecto atrajo a la cadena por la "calidad de la narrativa" en el trabajo de Kirkman.

"No es sobre zombies apareciendo de los armarios. Es una historia sobre supervivencia, y las dinámicas de lo que pasa cuando un grupo es forzado a sobrevivir bajo esas circunstancias. El mundo es interpretado de una forma astuta, sofisticada." dijo Stillerman

Darabont y Hurd ofrecieron el proyecto a AMC y varios mercados más. La participación del dúo hizo que el proyecto algo indispensable para la cadena.

Frank Darabont escribió y dirigió las adaptaciones de libros de Stephen King Milagros Inesperados, The Shawshank Redemption y La Niebla. Gale Hurd participó en la producción de la saga Terminator, Aliens y Tremors, y una larga lista.

Cable network gives go-ahead to pilot duo

AMC has given greenlights to two drama pilots, "The Walking Dead" and "The Killing."

Walking Dead" is based on the graphic novel series about survivors of a zombie apocalypse by Robert Kirkman. Frank Darabont penned the adaptation and is onboard to direct. Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion will exec produce with Darabont.

"Walking Dead" revolves around a group of survivors, led by a police officer, who travel the country in search of a safe home.

Working with people like Frank Darabont and Gale Anne Hurd is the right way in for us to deliver a project of distinction in this genre," AMC prexy Charlie Collier said.

"The Killing," from Fox Television Studios, is based on the popular Danish TV series "Forbrydelsen." Veena Sud ("Cold Case") wrote the pilot and will exec produce; "Burn Notice's" Mikkel Bondesen is also exec producing.

"Killing" is described as a crime drama that turns on the murder of a young girl and the investigation that ensues. Story is told from the perspective of a femme investigator "who cares more for the dead than for the living," said Joel Stillerman, AMC senior veep of programming, production and original content. It's focused on the character but has touches of psychological horror pics a la "Silence of the Lambs," he said
